Girls are unconsciously trained to idolize this figure in her many plastic and visual forms. Insidiously simple, Cinderella and her exploits define modern women’s ideals, ambitions, desires. Whereas the folktale was intended as an instructive and entertaining moralistic text, the contemporary entertainment industry has elevated the Cinderella character to mythical status. Significantly, this was not in the nature of the tale as orally transmitted, but derives from modern mis-translation and application.
